It is common knowledge that in general, women outlive men.
Statistics from Singapore Ministry of Health shows that the LIfe Expectancy at Birth in 2013 is 84.5 years for women and 80.1 years for men.

'Why do women outlive men? Is it due to to differences in genes or lifestyle ?'
This is a frequent question I get asked at talks and coaching sessions.

There are many possible explanations but nobody knows the the full answer, however my own favourite answer whenever people ask me why do women outlive men is this one,
"Women outlive men because more women do housework daily than men and housework such as vacuuming and mopping actually expends between 3-6 METs ( Metabolic Equivalents) of energy, equivalent to moderate intensity exercises. So if you want to live longer, you might want to try doing housework daily!"

Below are links to some interesting articles for those of you who are interested to read up more on what are some of the reasons that people are saying about why women outlive men,

    My musings about
    Lifestyle as Medicine

Ever since I accidentally embarked on this journey of learning, studying, discovering, practising, advocating and subsequently teaching about the power of lifestyle, especially our diet on our health, I find myself 'obsessed' with thinking of the obstacles and challenges that people faced in unleashing the power of a healthy lifestyle.

I think about it all the time, whether I am working in my clinic, in my restaurant or in my school where I teach lifestyle as medicine, I find myself musing about Lifestyle as medicine non-stop, so much so that I constantly carry a small notebook to jot down notes of all my musings  as they come.

Here, I pen down some of these musings to share with you.

    Have fun!
